Welcome to the Duck on the Pond in South Newington, Oxfordshire.
We are a farm to fork pub and restaurant. Being a small, family run team we pride ourselves in creating a home from home atmosphere. There’s always a reason to visit, from the cosy and calm interiors with roaring log burner in the winter, to the kitchen garden and outside space to dine in the summer. We choose local and sustainable suppliers and grow our own in our kitchen garden.
You might want to visit to have a casual bar meal or enjoy a leisurely brunch.
Or perhaps, it’s that special occasion you want to celebrate, in our tranquil and welcoming restaurant. Where the offering is our a la carte menu; alongside weekly changing dishes.
Why not try our fixed price menu - Wednesday to Saturday featuring our favourite dishes?
We are all about community and connection here and have hosted several different events over the years including quiz nights, collaboration wine and dine evenings with special guests to guide you through the tastings, a solstice sound bath, wreath making workshops and live music - to name but a few.

What's Growing On
This summer in The Duck on the Pond garden has been one of the hottest we’ve had in years, with very little rain. While the sunshine was lovely, it certainly made things tough for growing – many of our vegetables struggled in the heat.
Even so, with plenty of care we managed to harvest some beautiful salads and courgettes, which have been making their way onto our menus for guests to enjoy.
Of course, there were some losses too – crops like peas and kale didn’t cope as well, and once again the rabbits seemed to get their share before we did!
As we move into autumn, we’re already planning ahead for next year: improving the soil, trying out new methods, and focusing on building more resilience (and biodiversity) into the garden. We can’t wait to see what 2026 will bring at The Duck on The Pond!
