Welcome to the Duck on the Pond. Here, we strive to be as sustainable as possible in all that we do. From the food we grow in our Kitchen Garden, to the choice of local farmers, rearers and artisan producers we work with. We want to reduce food miles and focus on life balance. We believe it is our responsibility to respect our environment and represent the rich food heritage and culture of the area that we live in. Offering a product that is hyper seasonal, using as much of the produce as we can the day it is harvested and through using traditional methods to preserve the rest. We believe the future lies in the past, in the knowledge and understanding of how to work with nature. We are constantly evolving and learning to work at one with nature whilst bringing you delicious food, alongside a welcoming atmosphere.

What's Growing On
This summer in The Duck on the Pond garden has been one of the hottest we’ve had in years, with very little rain. While the sunshine was lovely, it certainly made things tough for growing – many of our vegetables struggled in the heat.
Even so, with plenty of care we managed to harvest some beautiful salads and courgettes, which have been making their way onto our menus for guests to enjoy.
Of course, there were some losses too – crops like peas and kale didn’t cope as well, and once again the rabbits seemed to get their share before we did!
As we move into autumn, we’re already planning ahead for next year: improving the soil, trying out new methods, and focusing on building more resilience (and biodiversity) into the garden. We can’t wait to see what 2026 will bring at The Duck on The Pond!
